Community capacity building / more than medicine

The IPC Programme envisages an extended role for the voluntary sector and communities at the forefront of radical change in how health care and support is designed and delivered. This means building a health and care system that works to mobilise people and recognises their assets, strengths and abilities, not just their needs.

The Care Act (2014)

Includes new duties on prevention, including the role of communities and social networks.

Requires all public bodies to consider how the services they commission and procure might improve the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the community.
